GO: Meeting Human Needs in Christ’s Name Begins With Meeting Physical Needs in Appalachia
As our first mission team, Appalachia #1 is heading to Lynch, KY this next week, our second team, Appalachia #2 is following quickly on their heels! Harlan and Letcher Counties in Kentucky get a one week respite from the LMBC Missions Team’s two back to back trips. This second team will be doing a combo trip of LMBC’s first ever Medical Missions Trip and first ever Sports Camp Mission Trip. We are excited and nervous all at the same tine to see how God is going to use this team in this new adventure to sow seeds of the gospel, and to water the seeds planted by Team #1.
PRAY
We will be holding the Sports Camp at one of the local elementary schools. Through the Sports Camp we will be building relationships with not only the children but also the parents. Following the Sports Camp in the morning we will have lunch for the participants and then the Medical Clinic will begin immediately after lunch at the same location. Pray that many parents will stay allowing God to touch their lives by meeting their physical needs and that word of mouth will spread through the community. When working in extremely distressed and poor communities, meeting physical needs has a spiritual impact on an unbelieving community like nothing else. Because they couldn’t argue over the fact that all the people were rejoicing at the miraculous change that had taken place in the formerly crippled beggar at the Temple gate.
See Acts 3:1-16; 4:1-22.
HELP & SEND
If you are not one of the 40 people going, YOU CAN STILL HELP AND SEND! The biggest way you can help is to purchase some of the over the counter drugs from the list (available Download ApptripwishlistOTCmed_Layout 1) that we will be giving to those coming through the medical clinic. We will be seeing people who have no insurance. If you aren’t able to get to the store to buy these items, you can also drop a check in the offering plate, drop by the office or hand it to one of our church staff members and we will purchase the drugs for you. Make checks out to LMBC with medical clinic in the memo no later than June 3rd as the team leaves on Tuesday, June 5th. Also, we have a few people who need help in getting the funds to go. Feel free to help send one of our people.
In His service and yours,
