This Sunday, February 5th, David Rainer will come "in view of a call" to serve at Lake Murray as Associate Pastor for Discipleship. If affirmed, David will begin in mid-March.
He and his wife Melinda have been married nine years, and have two children, Luke, age three and Evangeline, age one.
Over the past ten years, David has ministered in churches in Alabama and Tennesee. Most recently, David served in Shizuoka City, Japan with the International Mission board as a Church Planter and Evangelist, sharing the Gospel with the Japanese people.
To speak of David's role in terms of our mission statement, David is the "Pastor for Sharing Life." He is responsible for strengthening and growing our Sunday school and Life group ministries, which are the key ministries for church health and growth. Responsibilities in this area include recruting, mentoring, and equipping teachers, designing and implementing curriculum, assimilating new and existing members into Sunday school and Life groups, etc. He will work intimately with our student and children's pastors to make sure we have a comprehensive discipleship strategy as a church, and closely with our missions minister to insure that Sunday school classes have every opportunity to serve the community with the Gospel. He will work closely with our deacons and our council of leaders as well. Additionally, David will lead all church-wide fellowships and special events (i.e., concerts, lakeside services, etc.), and oversee the adult education building (use and care). Busy man!
David and Mindy will be in the adult education building on Sunday, February 5, from 9:00 - 9:30 AM for a drop in. David will speak in the service on the 5th. A vote will immediately follow the service.
